Song Lyric Sunday: Motorcyle Drive By

It's been almost a month since I wrote here. Eh. It happens. Today was my first day off since August started so, really, it's to be expected. My next day off will be August 30, when I fly to Ontario for almost a week of vacation.

I keep thinking today is Saturday and I am going to be very sadly disappointed when I have to wake up and go to work tomorrow. I went out almost right after work on Friday and stayed up way way too late that night and then proceeded to work all day at Earls on Saturday so... anyway. It happens.

But I guess I should acknowledge what day it actually is and do a Song Lyric Sunday or something like that.

So. I have two clips this week, actually, from the same song.

Sleeping on the couch
When I came to visit you
That's when I knew
That I could never have you
I knew that before you did
Still I'm the one who's stupid

...

This is our last time
We'll be friends again
I'll get over you

~ Motorcyle Drive By, Third Eye Blind

I think I often give the impression that my song lyric sunday choices relate directly to what is going on in my life at that very moment.

Today's doesn't, really.

I mean, I guess it does in some way because how can something not when it has resonance for you but it's not direct. Mostly because this particular song has had a stupid amount of resonance for the past year. Stephan Jenkins was writing about a particular girl, of course, but there is something in this song that speaks about the ultimate futility and fatality of relationships. And loneliness.

Maybe it's just me because I don't trust anyone but don't you always know from the beginning?

And recently there was someone who told me that I trusted him. But I don't. Not really.
